David was stuck taking care of Retha Calvo and he needed more money for her care even though though she did not appreciate his efforts. He needed a raise at his job badly. He also had an eye for the the pretty detective Anya Washington but did not have the courage to ask her out. So when an opportunity arose to where he could get some help from a magician/ voodoo practitioner, he took it. It was more trouble than what it was worth. His clone, Dutch was pure evil and reeked pure havoc, was David's dark side. Well, as it turned out, David did not need any help with getting Anya's attention as she was already attracted to him. They had to figure out how to get rid of Dutch and they did.Stacey Deanne wrote a story that was difficult for me to read. Not that it was hard to read, the subject matter of rape and abuse was very difficult for me too handle. It was an intriguing paranormal story in that it taught a lesson, that one is better off to their own devices than relying on someone else to help with your personal short comings. There were just a few things left hanging in the story. Did David and Anya get their HEA.? How was Anya going to solve all of those murders now that Dutch was up in smoke and ashes? Inquiring minds are just curious to know.

What an awesome book and it makes you wonder if trusting people to change your life is a great idea. I'm glad David figured it out and stopped Dutch before he hurt anyone else. This book was great with so much going on and the way Dutch tried to control everyone. Dutch made me want to jump in the book and kick his ass. It took me one day to read it because it was one you can't put down. Read it everyone

I swear you are my all time favorite suspense writer of all time. Omg how do you come up with these ideas and just put it on paper or type lol. Jesus even Dutch gave me the creeps just his discription only.. wow this book had everything from the beginning til the end . I would have like more bc I want to know did he meet Anya parents etc... you never disappointed me when it comes to your work. I be looking forward to anything brand new. But seriously his mom was very mean and evil but you only get one mother so I understand why he put up with her. David is a good man ..

Wow, wow, wow! I truly enjoyed this book! My heart went to David, because he did live a hard life, leading him in not having any confidence in himself, especially in talking to his crush, Anya. To become a more confident person, he gets a clone of himself, Dutch, who is definitely the complete opposite. And I mean total opposite. Dutch was something else! He didn’t care about anything or anyone, which made me despise him, but that what made this story so interesting. I’m glad that David got the confidence he needed to not only rescue Anya, but to finally be the person that he was destined to be all along.

That it had to end is what I didn't like about this book.This book was so good, I mean the characters especially David what a good and decent guy who can't catch a break and then there is Dutch a troublemaker and evil man. Anya is such a good woman and a great protector of her cousin Billie who also is a decent person whose went through some things but is trying to better herself. I hope we will get to read more on Anya and David in the future.

This book was different than anything I've read! The plot was on fire and the author did great at creating three-dimensional characters. I felt so sorry for how his mother treated David and it laid the foundation to why he does the things he does. Dutch had my heart pounding every time he popped on the page and I couldn't wait to see what he'd do next. He was pure evil. If you want something interesting that will keep you guessing then this book is for you!

Wow! I'm kinda loss for words because this book was kinda weird, but in a good way. I really enjoyed it. Dutch was something else and I knew he'd be a handful but I had no idea. The way he treated Billie was disgusting, but he had no soul. The main character, David has had a hard life, which caused him to not be that confident in himself, but he gains his confidence in order to save Anya, the black detective he loves. Will love triumph over evil? Read and find out! You will not be disappointed!
