Been using this for the past few weeks and I'm a believer in the "Reader's Bible" concept. It has lived up to the hype and more. Here is what I like about this set in summary:-This looks and feels like a premium book set. From the feel of the cloth to the quality of the paper. I expected the paper to be slightly thicker, but it is certainly adequate without much bleed. The off-white cream color of the paper is perfect.-Excellent text layout. The font is pleasing to the eye, the font size is just right, the margins and spacing spot on. They do not put too much text on one page, so it does not take forever to get to the next page. The total reading experience is pleasing with less reading fatigue. I am surprised how much faster I am able to read through the Bible. I can easily see myself reading through this set twice a year. I think there is great value in being able to get through the entire Bible with greater frequency as it allows one to see the big picture while also discovering new insights each time. Reading through more frequently also takes the pressure off having to understand every single detail while focusing on the overall theme the author is trying to convey.-There really is something to not having verses and chapters. It makes reading the Bible less overwhelming and fatiguing while being more flowing. But most importantly it encourages reading everything within context. I've found that having chapters and verses (which were not placed by the original Biblical writers) creates the tendency to see verses and chapters as isolated units rather than seeing the big picture. Not knowing where the chapters begin and end facilitates better sequential and contextual reading and I end up reading larger amounts effortlessly. I can honestly say that the improved reading experience has enriched my spiritual life.-If you want to start at a particular place or chapter however, there is an index at the back of each volume to indicate where each chapter begins.-Binding lays flat and comfortably in the hand. It might be a bit stiff out of the box, but it settles quickly.-ESV is an excellent translation all around and one of my favorites. Pleasing to read, yet faithful to the original. For a set like this I can't think of a version I would want more.-Slip case is very sturdy and it has grooves for each individual book to fit in its proper place.Negatives:-One criticism I have is that the gold on the binding will fade in no time especially since I hold the book in my hand. In just a few weeks I am noticing a slight fade in mine. I'm not bothered too much by this, and I don't expect my set to look pristine through the years. The best Bibles are the ones that are worn from extensive use.This set probably isn't for everyone. Those who NEED to know what the verses and chapters are will not like this set. But for those who want to be able to just sit and get lost into the text without worrying about making references, taking notes, etc. will really enjoy this. I have a separate time for doing more in-depth study where I even translate from the original languages and only read a handful of verses at a time, but otherwise I really like having the ability to just pick up this book and jump right into it without the distractions.

I have the cloth version of this product for two reasons. First, $114 is far more attractive than $500 for leather. Second, I actually prefer this to leather, despite the leather one coming with a black walnut case. If I become wealthy, I will invest in the leather version, but for now I'm content with this beautiful cloth design. I even like the graphics on the exterior of the case and the book spines. The format of this Bible makes reading larger portions of Scripture easy and pleasurable. No more getting distracted with chapter numbers, section headers, and footnotes. No more extremely thin pages, and no more tiny font. Just a simple and clear reading of the Word of God from an excellent translation. The page layout is highly similar to reading a novel, including the font size and page thickness (hence the necessity for this to be a six-volume set). I still enjoy my regular ESV, but for longer reading this is a wonderful and beautiful thing. The reading plan available to accompany this also helps me tremendously. For example, rather than today's reading plan instructing me to read Genesis 1-3, then tomorrow Genesis 4-6, etc., it instructs me to read pages 3-10. Day two is pages 11-17. Day three is pages 18-26, etc. The clear, unhindered reading of the text in the format offered with this product combined with the reading plan is turning out to be a nice and pleasant experience. This is a purchase that I'm glad to have made.

This stunning work by Crossway is second to none! From the moment I saw the video, I coveted the cloth set. It is okay to covet God's Word, right?!?! Having just received my set yesterday, I felt compelled to write my review immediately. This Bible set is not only a work of art but also a major accomplishment for facilitating a fresh reading of the Bible. And, although there are other translations I like better than the ESV, this ground-breaking format is nothing short of genius! A whole new generation of readers of God's precious Word will now be enabled to read His Word without the strain of small print and cluttered distracting challenge of the Bible format that has been the standard for too long. This Bible is a true reader's delight. And to that end, it fulfills is purpose in glorious fashion!As other reviewers have mentioned, the careful attention given by Crossway to packing the set to prevent damage in shipment of either the slipcase or its contents therein betrays their attention to every detail and is sure to guarantee the customer complete satisfaction.After having read the Gospels entirely, I have another issue and that's with the translation. In some places such as Luke 14:2 ESV still reflects the use of archaic terminology. the reference to "dropsy" is not modern in ANY sense! There are other places in the text where the translation sacrifices meaning for literalness such as "shields" which in fact signifies "leaders" at the end of Psalm 47:9.My only complaint is that when I removed volume III: Poetry from the slipcase, I observe a noticeable impression/crease across the upper third of the front cover (See photos below). It would appear that this is damage that was somehow overlooked at the publisher when pacakging the set for shipment to the seller. On account of this and the fact that the ESV rendering in its quest to be a literal translation certainly is not without its drawbacks is the reason for giving it a 4 out of 5 stars.
