$100+ book printed with the quality that is barely better than a comic book. Paper is thin and easy to tear on a book that is large very large. I would have preferred for this amount that the book be hard back and printed on good quality paper. Just another academic money machine because I had to buy this book for my kid's class. This book is a scam.

Considering the price paid for a new book, I did not expect what appears to be dirty shoe marks all over the book in addition to bends on the back flap.That being said the book is okay, I was also not expecting it to be the dimensions of a work book (quite a bit larger all the way around vs normal college textbook). The content seems okay if one wanted to learn basic HTML5 and CSS3 outside of taking a class.

I purchased this used book for a online Web Development class. It was received in good condition and it is pretty easy to follow along and learn web development at your own pace. There are lots of examples to compare your work with as well as the companion website that offers videos and tutorials to help with learning along the way.

This criticism is aimed at Addison-Wesley the publisher not the author!I'm a senior citizen auditing a class in HTML, JavaScript and CSS to expand my skill set to create and maintain websites. I have been creating websites for nearly 20 years. The class is well structured at Cincinnati State Tech and Community College. The required text is this one and I purchased the Kindle edition naively expecting it to be available to me in the same way that other Kindle books I've purchased but that was not to be.1) You can only install it on two devices at a time. I will admit that this is in the book description's fine print but I missed it.2) You cannot read it with Amazon's Cloud Reader. (NOT IN THE FINE PRINT DESCRIPTION)My typical life is work on the course at home at my desk and in my easy chair with my Android Tablet using the Kindle App. THAT'S TWO INSTALLATIONS. Then on Wednesdays I head to school and go to one of the labs if I'm early and I can't download the book to the lab computer nor can I read it in the cloud. The same is true in the classroom.I also travel from time to time and use a laptop in the hotel room or wherever I happen to be and again, the book is not available to me unless I de-register another device.I am very pissed with the publisher "Addison-Wesley" whose greed and mistrust prevent me from using the Kindle book in the way I expected. The book itself is excellent as many of you have reported but the publisher makes me angry!

Typical text book that is heavy on try as you go. Alot of the information gets lost between the constant "hands on" portions which can make the chapters feel cluttered. There are other books out there that do a better job of teaching Web programming, but for the price, this book will at least get you started.

Required textbook for a class. Made things really easy to understand. The projects in it were totally lame (Pacific Trails Resort), but helpful. Didn't have anything really advanced with CSS3 like parallax scrolling or how to use the flexible box model, so it won't tell you everything there is to know.

They don't tell you that in order to be able to have access to the material in the book, you have to pay an extra $24 to the publisher. I rented the book thinking I'm saving but I could have bought the book with what I ended up paying and be able to keep it for future reference.

The book was great for my introductory web class. The price is a little steep though considering many of the links in the book don't work making it a little out-dated but there is a new version, it came out after the semester started though so we didn't have a choice.
