Reviewed by Reader of Romance (readerofromance1.blogspot.com)Event planner Tara meets Mick Riley, pro football player, at one of the parties she planned. Tara knows who Mick is because she's a football fan and not to mention the fact that Mick's on the cover of every tabloid with at least one hot woman on his arm. So when Mick flirts with Tara, she doesn't believe he's genuine. After all, how could he be interested in someone like her? But Mick is interested. There's something about Tara that calls to him in a way no other woman has. But as they grow closer, will Tara be able to balance her relationship, work and her son, and will Mick be able to give up his life of parties and women for a lifetime with Tara?Jack Burton is my go-to author when I'm in the mood for a sports romance. She's written several about different sports, and all of them feature big, hot, muscular men, which is a plus in my book. I really enjoyed reading about Tara and Mick. Tara is an independent woman who knows what she wants and needs, and I liked that Tara has a fourteen year old son, because it added dimension to her character, and the scenes with her son were fun to read, especially seeing Mick interact with him. At the beginning Mick is portrayed as a bachelor who sleeps with many beautiful woman, but he never even looks at other woman after he meets Tara. Some readers might not like the fact that Mick pushes Tara into a relationship with him and doesn't take no for an answer, but I thought it came across as more more romantic and less pushy.Overall, I recommend this to anyone looking for a well written sports romance.

3.5 stars.Leave me one minute to contemplate the cover. Again.Ok.*** spoilers alert ***I was pretty bored for the first third of the book. On the plus side there was Tara, a believable heroine with normal reactions. And the biggest luck, I mean, look at that cover. Ok. Mick, the hero - cover apart - was sweet and unremarkable. On the minus side, it was boring, as I said, because the hero was politely pursuing Tara, trying to convince her to give him a chance and being seduced in the process. Maybe I was in the wrong frame of mind, because I thought that the conflict would revolve around the two different worlds from which Tara and Mick came, which would have been predictable. I'm glad I was wrong. I also think the two had personality transplants while having sex, because I couldn't believe they were so sweet and polite one moment and wordy p0rn dirty talkers the next. When we finally got to meet the heroine's son, Nathan, it was interesting to see how things changed for the kid after the sport star Mick entered the kid's life, much more than what changed in Tara's life, which is NOTHING. I think Nathan was the smartest character in the book and I loved when he made Tara understand that she was using him as an excuse to stall in her life. The only element of conflict was Mick's agent, Elizabeth, who was a real b!tch.I must confess that there wasn't enough angst to make this book memorable. Mick has a secret in his life, but he's really nice. Mick's family accepted Tara and Nathan without batting an eye and were supportive and understanding. The characters had a problem in their past, but no characters had a flaw to make them more human. Does Mick's very slightly crooked nose count? With that hot bod? I don't think so.Look at those abs...

About my reviews:I am by no means a book scholar; I read for entertainment purposes only. I couldn't care less about grammar and spelling as long as I can follow the story (I’m still a novice when it comes to the English language and I am 30+ years old and English is my first and only language…I’m a 0’s and 1’s kinda girl). With that being said, I do appreciate those who have the gift of bringing good characters and stories to life via written words evoking all my “girlie” emotions. For the most part I’m a sucker for likable characters, good chemistry, angst, heartbreak, and happy endings. I judge books by how I feel while reading them and I am always looking for my next “5 star book” high!I wanted to share my opinions on the books I’ve read recently because Amazon ratings can be misleading at times; however, I don’t want to spend too much time on reviewing a book when I could be reading the next “5 star book” (hence this template). You will not get any spoiler alerts or harsh critiques from my reviews…nope, you will simply get a star rating based on the following:5 stars – I could read this book over and over again…everyone should read this book!!!4 stars – I could read this book more than once!3 stars – Okay book…one read was enough2 stars – I just about got through this book1 star – I could not finish this bookHopefully this will help you identify some good reads and avoid some not-so-good ones!
